Making Home Link Up #17: Home Uses for WD40

First up, a little bit of an update from me.

Over the last couple of days, I have had a bad, BAD situation going on with my lovely boots. The zip keeps undoing from the bottom up when it is fastened. I realised that an extra zip tooth has made its way through the pully and I have no idea how to fix this. Help please! In trying to get the zip back down, I had a bit of trouble so I rubbed a little bit of my trusty friend, WD40 onto the teeth to help it along. Then I remembered this post and another situation recently where WD40 caused me to be very smug.
WD40 DIY

Very recently we purchased a lovely bin but it was plastered with a huge sticker which left loads of residue on the front of it. I immediately remembered this WD40 trick and the problem was no longer a problem! Voila.

Now onto my smugness. A couple of weeks ago, Hubby B and I noticed that one of our door handles was loose. Unfortunately when the case covering the screws was screwed on, the threads were crossed meaning we couldn't unscrew it. I told Hubby B to use a bit of WD40 and do you know what he did? He laughed at me. He told me that it definitely would not work and the only thing to do was to rip the handle off. No bloody way! I told him to leave it be and I would sort it. You see where I am going with this right? Once he was at work, I sprayed some WD40 into all the gaps around the casing, dried off the outside, gave it wriggle about and with my brute strength, I just turned that little casing right off.
I then text Hubby B a little picture to demonstrate why he should never underestimate my fabulousness again. What do you use WD40 for? Any little tips of tricks?

I hope that you will join in with #MakingHome this week and don't forget to tweet me your links!

    1. I know. Hubby B hates it! haha. I managed to fix my boots. Took a little bit of patience, some muscles, a pair of pliers and a tiny screw driver. Mission! I should get a job in Timpsons! haha

  2. Hehe, never let him forget it either! My partner is so DIY averse - my mum's advice was to tell him I'd get my dad to do it instead, as apparently that had always worked on my own father. OH just said 'that's a good idea'. Lol. x

  3. Ha ha! Don'tchya just LOVE it when you get one over on the Hubster? Go you! Like Jessica above *waves* my Beloved is also DIY-shy. I definitely think I need some basic training, so I can start cracking on with jobs myself instead of putting him through so much angst! Lol
