Making Home Link Up #18: Dining in Style With Our Duckydora Amalfi Dinner Set

Welcome to the #MakingHome weekly link up!

Be inspired by posts all about home; moving house, home decor, DIY, crafts, family activities, recipes, gardening and more. It’s all here under one roof at Mrs Crafty B’s.

Don't forget to join in this week and link up your own posts. The linky is open from Friday until Tuesday. Find out how to take part at the end of this post.

Our home is an eclectic mix of things collected over the years from various points in our lives and places we have visited. Something they all have in common is the feeling of happy. We enjoy bringing in pretty things to make us smile and making things personal. Everything tells a story, holds a memory or gives us a simple pleasure. Our collection of dinner ware has grown in the years since we were students (a longer time than I care to recall) and although we have fond memories of those days, they aren't pretty to look at. As big foodies, I have been waiting eagerly to replace our chipped mismatching plates with a nice dinner set that we can enjoy. When I was asked to consider some handmade items by Duckydora, I jumped at the chance.
Duckydora is a family run business selling beautiful homeware items and I couldn't wait to brighten up our dining space with the beautiful colours of the Amalfi design. A soft greeny blue colour encircled with a beautiful purple and bright yellow green rim. it was certain to brighten up the dining table.
What I love about this 12 piece Amalfi dinner set was how versatile it is. The cereal bowls are big enough to use for your super quick stir fry dinner...
...the dinner plates are perfect for a casual Saturday night tea with the family (The best fish baps with mushy peas and tartare sauce via Jamie Oliver)...
...and the soft colours are great for an afternoon of tea and cake with friends.
As well as being ideal for casual dining, when hosting a dinner party for friends now, our table is dressed to impressed.
I guess the worst thing is the effect that Duckdora is going to have on my bank balance. They have so many beautiful items certain to brighten up our kitchen and dining space and I will most certainly be needing this Amalfi cat bowl for Little Cat!

What are your favourite items in your home? Do you like to have things just because they are pretty/ Do you have items that hold a story or a memory?

  2. I love those bowls! I try to stick to things that are practical, or have sentimental value - but I still have plenty of ornamental things that I just liked the look of and had to have! x

    1. Ah yes but see these are pretty things which make you smile which are just as important. I am starting to realise this as time goes on. i.e. I am sick of boring glasses! I think I need some pretty in that department haha. Water is boring enough!
